Barberry Court Motel

The pool was clean, with salt water, though it felt cold at first. A trolley comes by every half hour to take you to the village, and there’s a pizza place next door. The staff were very nice and available if needed. I’d been worried after my friend booked based on last year’s reviews, but our room was super cute, clean, had AC, and was well lit at night. I can’t tell if they fixed it up or if those older reviews were true.

We booked on the first day of the hot air balloon festival, when the other hotels were occupied and there was nothing else to choose from. The price was very low, so we weren’t expecting much, and at least the bed was clean. But there were brown liquid-looking stains on the ceiling, lots of hair on the floor, and garbage that made us afraid to walk without shoes. Noisy neighbors kept us from sleeping all night. The mattress was worn out and squealed like rusty metal with even the slightest movement. What an unforgettable experience.

Our room was spacious, with a kitchenette and three big beds. The saltwater pool was nice, and kids are welcome. A trolley runs up and down the road until around 10 pm, and it costs just $1 per person to ride. There are lots of good places to eat nearby. The hotel was very nice.

The location isn’t bad, and the customer service lady was extremely polite and sweet. But the beds were terrible. I woke up crying because I was in so much pain I couldn’t move. Water was seeping up through the bathroom floor, soaking my feet whenever I stepped on it, and the room smelled strongly of mildew. The carpets were really dirty, too. A few upgrades could make this place amazing.
