Sundowner on Lake George

The view is spectacular, and we loved having kayaks, paddle boards, and a canoe available to use. There’s also a big fire pit we could enjoy from our balcony. We booked on a whim and were delighted when we got there. The room was beautifully furnished with rustic Adirondack pieces that looked brand new, and it had everything we needed. We’ll be back!

Room 222 was clean and comfortable, and the lake and mountain view was amazing. The downside was how clearly we could hear the people in the room above. Their footsteps, doors opening, and even conversations came through almost word for word. It’s a nice spot for the view and location, but the upstairs noise takes away from the stay.

We spent $230 on a room we barely used, and Airbnb offered just $33.91 back. I feel I should have received the whole amount, or at least half. The room looked beautiful until night fell and the lights went out. At about 10:30, we saw a roach. No one at the facility seemed willing to do anything, so we carried our belongings outside, shook them out, and left them in the car. We had no money for another place and it was too late to leave, so we had to get through one night with the light on, afraid of roaches or other bugs crawling on us. Getting dressed the next morning was painful: my clothes were freezing, and I have scoliosis and sciatica, which already make cold hard for me. We spent most of the night in the car and wanted to stay in the room as little as possible. If you’re fine sleeping with roaches and risking bringing these very invasive insects home, this is the place for you. Otherwise, stay far away.

We walked into our room and were stunned. It was fresh, very clean, beautiful, and absolutely amazing for our anniversary. My husband and I had taken off on a whim for our 26th wedding anniversary, hoping to find a place near town on the Lake George side of the Adirondacks. While he drove, I looked online for a reasonably priced hotel or motel within walking distance, read the reviews for Sundowners motel, and booked without knowing what to expect. We checked in, got our room number and the house expectations, then opened the door to that wonderful surprise. We stayed on 9/18/2025, and I’ll absolutely visit again.
