Lake Haven Motel

We took a two-hour drive for our anniversary, and the place made for an amazing getaway if you like Adirondack-themed things. The drive was great, and the people were pretty friendly.

The room was super cute and very clean, and the Jacuzzi worked well with nice headrests. We didn't use the pool, but it looked beautiful and clean. The motel was mostly quiet and didn't seem too busy. Prices were fair, and we'd stay again. It's a lovely spot for getting around: Shepard's Park beach and the village are a 10-minute walk, while mini golf and steamboat rides take about 23 minutes on foot. Kayaking is just down the side street, there are a couple of restaurants across the street, and parking is on site, though tight for larger vehicles. The downsides were the intersection noise, especially loud motorcycles, and thin walls that let you hear people outside. The A\C was extremely loud, like a plane taking off, and kept switching on for two minutes, stopping, then starting again five minutes later. That pattern made it hard to sleep.

There's a small stove, microwave, and fridge in the rooms, which feel quaint, clean, fresh, and pleasant. It's just outside the main town, so it's quiet, but restaurants and entertainment are an easy walk away. It may not be a five-star hotel, but it deserves more than four.

The two-room suite was nicely decorated in a country style and had a small kitchen with a fridge, coffee maker, two infusion cooktop, toaster, sink, and the cookware and utensils needed to make a meal. It even had one and a half baths, and we loved the room. The pool sits right outside a good stretch of rooms, so it was quite noisy. We also disliked how the motel is run: one company handles three other local properties with shared housekeeping and office staff. For requests during your stay, you have to call a number on the door. We found that impersonal and unprofessional, and will probably avoid all of their locations.
