Pinebrook Motel

Winter rates are quite reasonable. We did have a problem with the cable, though. Someone in another room seemed to be trying to pay for a channel, and it kept interfering with our viewing. Other people had the same issue.

The room could’ve been a little cleaner, with some dust around, though maybe they don’t book the kitchen room often or it was early in the season. It didn’t really bother us, since this trip came down to staying here or camping, and we’d absolutely recommend it. We’ll probably return next year. It’s such a cute spot, close enough to walk into town but tucked away from the crowds. The staff are friendly and casual, the pool is nice, and you can see the lake from the deck. There’s a cool creek out back, plus a fire pit and picnic area where we’re planning to have dinner tonight.

The air conditioner had black stuff in it, so we cleaned it as best we could before turning it on. The room wasn’t clean, and thin walls meant we woke up to banging and other noise early in the morning. It wasn’t good value for the price. I’d spend a bit more for one of the area’s more reputable motels.

The pool and the wood around it were dirty and full of bugs. There were wasps all over the property, so I wouldn’t bring anyone with a wasp or bee allergy. The bathroom window also had loads of bugs, and the room smelled like an old person’s place. The rooms were dated and very dirty, with barely enough towels and a really uncomfortable bed. For what we paid, it wasn’t worth it. The location is probably the only reason I’d book here again.
