The Inn of Lake George

We had a very nice visit, and I’d definitely go back. The Inn is close to five stars. The room was clean and very nice, though not special, and the bar was comfortable, but the drinks weren’t well made. It isn’t on Lake George, though it’s very convenient to the lake.

This is a beautiful boutique hotel, with a great property that’s well maintained and rooms in impeccable shape. I mean, who puts Nespresso machines in the rooms? The bar is amazing, and the bartender was awesome. Everyone was super friendly. Truly a hidden gem and definitely worth the stay.

Free parking, free internet, an in-room fridge, a clean room, and an easy walk to Lake George Village were all good. But quiet and security matter more to me, so I wouldn’t choose The Inn of Lake George again. In Room 4, the bar downstairs was loud enough to hear clearly before it closed at 10. Town street sweeping woke us around 6 each morning, and a garbage truck got us up around 5:40 on the first day. The windows barely cut the traffic noise. I’d also have liked a deadbolt in addition to the electronic lock, especially with non-guests in the bar during opening hours and the outside door relying on other guests to shut it properly afterward. There’s no peephole, either. The mattress is very firm, the hot water pressure is low, and the Nespresso machine only makes a long espresso at a time. There’s no elevator to most of the second-floor rooms, so bags have to go up the stairs. That was fine for us now, though I can imagine it being harder when we’re older. Comfortable enough in some ways, but the noise and security concerns don’t fit what I look for.

The location made getting around easy, with the main intersection and shops and restaurants only about 500 feet from the door. Parking was clearly marked, and self check-in was simple and well explained. The rooms are a little small, as other reviews say, but we didn’t mind. Everything inside and outside looked spotless. We had some very hot weather, and the building’s AC was a lifesaver. The bar is beautiful, and the bartender was lovely. When the batteries in our room’s PIN pad died, someone arrived with replacements in under a minute, it seemed. There was free Nespresso in both the room and lobby, plus a nice deck out back for guests. My wife and I stayed a couple of nights about two weeks ago and enjoyed every part of it. I’d give it 6 out of 5 if I could!
