Hilton Garden Inn Portland/Lake Oswego

Everyone treated my aunt with patience and respect after a house fire forced her out of her home. She can sometimes be a challenge, but the staff took time to listen and interact with her, and that made a world of difference. They made her stay incredible. I couldn’t recommend this hotel more highly.

The thermostat is locked down so you can’t leave the fan running constantly. I need ventilation and white noise to sleep. The coffee downstairs was weak, more like hot water, and the room coffee maker only had pods labeled tea or decaf. The hotel itself is nice, but management decisions that ruin a night’s sleep, supposedly to save 10 cents on the power bill, followed by no decent coffee made for a really unpleasant stay. I’d gladly stay in the ghetto, and pay more, if I could keep the room ventilation on and get a good cup of coffee in the morning. Anything nice I might have said about the place is wiped out.

The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and customer service was excellent. I asked Steve at the front desk if my wife and I could check out a little later, and he extended our checkout by two hours without any fees. Thanks, Steve, for understanding what we needed.

The north-facing view was lovely, with beautiful trees and some decorated buildings outside the window. The location also felt safe and lush, just off the interstate, with local and chain restaurants nearby. It’s a gem of a deal when visiting Portland. We spent a few days in the city, and being about 10-15 minutes south of downtown worked well. That short drive was worth avoiding downtown’s exorbitant parking fees, since parking here is $10/day. The friendly staff have breakfast, a bar, and a pantry with drinks, snacks, and Portland souvenirs. There’s also a pool and gym we didn’t use, which is a plus. We were very happy with our stay and will absolutely book again.
