Days Inn by Wyndham Cleveland Lakewood

I moved my things back to the car, took photos, and called Priceline to ask about cancelling and getting a refund. The desk told me I’d have to wait for the night auditor at 11p. When I came back after getting food, the hallway smelled like fresh pot and cigarettes. The night auditor was already there and told me to email the property manager at a gmail account. Priceline tried calling the property several times and got no answer. I’d booked a reasonably priced, no-frills stop through Priceline for a road trip, after a quick Google search. I decided around 4p how far I’d drive before stopping, and checked in after pulling up to the shabby building and a parking lot full of trash. I should’ve looked more closely first. The inside looked nothing like the photos: dirty and dingy, gouged walls, things falling apart, and the smell of old cigarettes and pot despite no-smoking signs everywhere. The place felt like a seedy rent-by-the-hour motel pretending to be much nicer, and it was way too expensive for what it was. I’ve seen nicer hourly motels. The front desk guy seemed unable to do anything and photocopied my credit card because he couldn’t work the computer. The room key didn’t work on my first try. Inside I found stained bedding, a headboard coming off the wall, broken lamps, dusty curtains, what looked like a red blood stain on the bathroom floor, one clothes hook and no closet bar, towels of questionable cleanliness with the bath towel barely bigger than a hand towel, ripped carpet stained with paint, dust piles in the corners, a broken toilet paper holder so the roll sat on the sink, and no trash can. The only good things: the mattress didn’t seem to have bed bugs, and the TV and dresser were surprisingly clean. I was on the road and just needed a basic place to sleep for the night. I booked on Priceline at a reasonable price, though it was far too much for what I found. The guy at the desk couldn’t work the computer, and gave me a card that didn’t unlock the door at first. Once inside, the room was filthy and falling apart. Unless you need somewhere for a skeezy rendezvous, there are much better options elsewhere in Cleveland. Save your money and don’t stay here.

Worst place ever, don’t stay there. The heat didn’t work in the rooms, and the other room they moved me to was only about half a star better. There was blood on the bedsheets, marijuana smell throughout, mouse droppings and garbage everywhere. The bathroom was awful, with black mold all over.

I was in the room for 10 minutes before I went back to the desk and checked out. It had no light, and the sheets were horribly stained. The smell was just as bad as the lobby, which reeked of cigarette smoke and bleach. The hallway smelled of smoke, cat urine, and fabuloso. Trash hotel. Don’t waste your time. I’d rather sleep in my car. The front desk lady and the cleaning lady there were very kind, though, and I’ll give them a glowing review.

I’d only stopped to do homework before taking my child out, but the wifi didn’t work. That delayed my submissions, made me cancel plans with my kid, and cost me more money. I had to leave within the hour after finding trash piled outside, mold under the sink, holes in the wall, and dog hair in the carpet. I rushed to get bed bug and lice treatment as a precaution. The front desk woman was amazing, five stars for her. She just needs a job, so be nice to her. The city should investigate and condemn the place immediately. I usually give people the benefit of the doubt, but this time all the negative reviews were right. Horrendous!
