Sheraton Denver West Hotel

This hotel is trash. The staff are rude. They've claimed to be under construction for years, but the only part that looks updated is the lobby. The hallways to the rooms have caulked ceiling panels everywhere and look like an old cruise ship corridor. The rooms are run down, with a fancy lamp trying to dress them up, like putting new rims on a Geo Metro. Horrible. I don't know what it takes to qualify as a four-star hotel, but this isn't it.

The room was clean, spacious, and had a great view from the top floor. We enjoyed the restaurant, especially the delicious burger and the best fries I've ever had. The atmosphere was nice, and the host at check-in was very friendly. I also liked the free coffee, which was real coffee and let me get an Americano. The gym was nice and big. The pool looked like it would be nice once renovations are done. The vinyl at the head of the bed showed some wear.

We gave it a try, but won't be back. The lobby was the nicest part. The hotel and rooms are old and dated, and the hallways look and smell gross, like unlicensed carpenters finished them. The headboard was deteriorated, and the soap and conditioner in the room were empty or hadn't been topped up. It was over $150 for one night, with no breakfast included. For that price, I expected better furniture, amenities, and breakfast.

The staff were excellent and quick to respond, and the location worked well for my meetings. There were several places to eat within walking distance, though no nearby convenience stores, grocery stores, or shopping areas. The lobby was in major renovation. The rooms were clean but old and tired. The faux leather on the beds was peeling, and a huge crack in the window had been covered with black duct tape.
