Carriage Inn

The staff are great, especially manager Michelle, who was genuinely concerned about my friend and his stay. I’m only giving this motel three stars because of them. The phone system was inadequate, and I had to go in person several times to get a simple problem sorted out. The property needs a major upgrade, though at $40 a night, you get what you pay for. Our non-smoking room smelled like cigarettes, and the AC didn’t work when we arrived. Once I asked, maintenance came quickly and fixed it. Great staff, subpar property.

I had to move rooms several times, and one of them at the far back of the Inn, on the second floor, had a poor view and made me feel completely unsafe. The first day, my room was dirty. I normally clean my rooms myself, but this one had been left that way. There were roaches, and I think bed bugs too, because something was biting me and left marks. They did move me the next morning. The housekeeper was no good at her job at all. The fridge was filthy, the dressers and tables badly needed dusting, the toilet, shower, floors, bathroom carpet, and microwave were dirty, and so were the mirrors. The filters in the heating and air unit desperately needed changing or cleaning. The pillows were flat, and I had to buy supplies to clean the rooms myself. Staff were pretty decent, and the price was reasonable, if you get your deposit back or use PRICELINE. It’s somewhere to stay if you need it, but nothing like it used to be back in the day.

I switched rooms three times. In the first, roaches scattered off the beds when I walked in and turned on the lights. Then they gave me keys to a room that already had people in it. The final room was okay, but the bathroom and bathtub were awful. The door’s safety latch was broken, so it didn’t feel fully secure. I wouldn’t recommend this place to someone coming from out of town.

We checked in and found roaches crawling all over the room. It smelled like marijuana, and the staff weren’t friendly. When we returned to the car with our luggage and came back to hand in the key, more than 15 minutes had passed, so they wouldn’t refund our money. What a waste. This motel should be shut down. It deserves a negative star.
