I had to stay here for work in Lansing. The weekly rate is good and the people were nice, but the place is nasty. I had to clean it myself and bleach everything. All the blankets had holes from people smoking, and I found and killed a bed bug, so I know there are more. I got bitten, too. If you stay, bring your own cleaning supplies and be prepared for bed bug bites. They don’t clean your room every day.

I was looking for a room for a week and they charged my debit card. When I saw the room, it was absolutely awful, completely torn apart, and looked like drug addicts had broken in and been living there. It wasn’t fit for anyone to stay in. I went straight back to the office and asked for my money back. They refunded me, but I’ve since found out they ran the charge twice, leaving me with two charges and one refund. From what I saw, this place should be shut down.

This is actually the Homeless Angels, and it’s the best shelter I’ve ever had the good fortune to be associated with. The staff are supportive and helpful as you work on getting your life back.

The bed is comfortable, the TV gets good channels, and I have a bathroom ready and available. After everything I’ve been through, I feel rescued. This place has met my transitional needs better than anywhere else. Someone doesn’t understand my ethical stance against meat, but I’ll work around that. One resident is very sweet to everyone except me. She seems to have disliked me ever since I complimented her hairstyle. Someone must have told her I’m not a person who deserves respect. I wouldn’t have this problem if I didn’t need to go into the lobby. It’s hard to be heard when you don’t spend time with everyone, and I’m not into violence.

Homeless Angels, run by pastors Timothy and Tracie baise, has turned this place into a shelter for homeless families and individuals. It’s no longer a motel, and every room has been completely remodeled. I love what the organization has done for homeless people and the community, and what they’re continuing to do.
