Red Roof Inn Chicago - Lansing

We checked in, then turned around and checked back out. The room smelled like smoke, the bed had hair and stained sheets, and there were warped walls, paper towels stuffed beside a leaky pipe, more hair on the counter, mold on the toilet, and boogers on the curtains. I told the man at the front desk about it, but he didn’t try to fix anything or offer a refund. All he said was, “I will look at it.” What was he going to look at, how dirty it was? The place needs to be cleaner and safer, and someone should offer guests an actual solution.

It used to be a decent place to get a room, but it’s fallen apart and needs serious upgrades. The baseboard heat, old busted AC units, and dingy, dry towels look like they belong at a car wash for wiping down cars. This place is a dump now. Corporate should audit it, because I’m sure it’s operating well below corporate standards.

I’m staying here, and it was quiet at first around midnight. Then I heard knocking and checked the peephole, but nobody was there. The day before, around 11 AM, I was in the room with my dog when someone tried to enter with a keycard. The latch and my dog stopped them. Everybody be careful out there!

The staff welcomed us warmly and treated us with more respect than at any other hotel we’ve stayed at. One of the best places I’ve been. I’ll always book with red roof.
