I came here to slow down and get away from life's rush, and I found new friends. Michelle and Curtis are the most down to earth people I've met in 30yrs. I learned and experienced things that helped me feel like my own person, one of a kind. Go with an open mind and don't try to force yourself to be happy, because that can take away from it. This place is for people willing to go with the flow, learn, and open themselves up to life and what it means to be happy with yourself. The art class, yoga, meditation, and food were GREAT. The cookies are to die for lol. Thank you. Almost forgot, the retreat is perfect if you like very small groups.

Thornton House was the highlight of our trip to the Lansing area for hiking. We loved the chance to relax and enjoy nature, and Frank was such an inviting, engaging owner. The house was clean, the homemade breakfasts were delicious, and we really appreciated the private, roomy Double Room and its full size washer dryer during our hiking vacation. It was our first trip to Iowa and we loved it. We'd definitely like to come back someday and see the cornfields planted.

Frank, the owner and innkeeper, made us feel like we were catching up with a friend. We had a great conversation, a delicious breakfast, and he pointed us toward some shopping and a local coffee shop for lunch. My boyfriend planned a little getaway in Lansing, and we stayed at the Thornton. It's a beautiful, clean, calming, comfortable gem, and we've decided to come back later this year. Our new favorite place. Thanks for a great time!

Frank has put a lot of time and thought into making the home's interior warm, historic, and comfortable for guests. There are beautiful antiques, charming period pieces, and old wooden stairs that made it easy to relax and enjoy ourselves. His five cheese quiche was sublime, and he pitched up a poppyseed coffee cake from a 100 year old bakery in Winona, MN. Breakfast also gave us the chance to have a great conversation with Frank and his sister. We were grateful for such an enjoyable, relaxing visit and incredible hospitality.

We had a wonderful overnight stay at Thornton House. Frank gave us a tour and explained the history of the house, and he was so knowledgeable. The accommodations were comfortable and very clean, and breakfast was excellent. Thank you, Frank!
