For a short visit, Four Queens is a solid pick for value and convenience, especially with no resort fee. It’s right in the heart of downtown on a lively street, with plenty of gift shops, casinos, hotels, and places to eat and explore. The bus stop is about a half-minute walk away and goes straight to the Strip. We came from Vancouver, BC and stayed three nights. Our 18th-floor room was clean and comfortable, including the washroom, and we had no problems. You can hear Fremont Street music, but we liked the lively downtown feel, and the noise wasn’t an issue up there. Downstairs by the casino and street, it can be loud and there’s a noticeable smoke smell, so keep that in mind if you’re sensitive to smoke. Check-in was a little abrupt: the staff member seemed blunt, rude, and passive-aggressive. A couple days later, though, she was kind and helpful when we asked about storing luggage, so maybe it was just an off moment or a bad day. I won’t share her name out of courtesy, though I know it. Checkout went smoothly, and we appreciated being able to leave our bags there for a few hours before our later flight.

I slept very well each night. The room was quiet, the bed comfortable, and the blackout curtains shut out all the Vegas sunlight. Walking straight from the hotel onto Fremont Street and back to the room was especially convenient for my trip, and parking was just $5 a day, a nice perk compared with many Vegas places. The stay was decent overall, but on arrival I found visible fecal residue inside the toilet bowl. It clearly hadn’t been cleaned properly. I didn’t want to go to the front desk over every little thing, so I dealt with it, but it made a poor first impression and housekeeping should have caught it. With better housekeeping standards, I’d rate the place higher.

The staff were all very kind, and the location had plenty of fun things to do nearby, with other places only a short drive away. Some rooms are a bit noisy, though. Probably fine if you’ve had a few drinks, but rough for sleeping sober. Luckily we could switch rooms and get a good night’s sleep.

The day staff were super friendly and accommodating, and I liked the clean, spacious room with its fridge. It faced the Fremont stage, which I actually enjoyed. When I needed to sleep, I used white noise, so the sound wasn’t an issue for me. If you don’t want to hear the stage, ask for a room on the other side. My husband and I thought we’d found our favorite hotel in the area for next time, but after what happened, I wouldn’t stay again unless it’s properly addressed. Around 1:30 a.m., someone was trying to break down a room door because he was locked out. I opened mine to see what was going on and saw a large man screaming at his wife to open up and ramming the door. When I told him to keep it down, he became threatening and belligerent. I called security, but they were useless and behaved terribly. Another man and I gave written statements, yet security seemed willing to let someone who appeared dangerous stay. When I asked whether he would be staying, the head of security questioned me like a criminal and blamed me. I was told that if I was so concerned, I shouldn’t leave my room. Am I supposed to be stuck inside because they’re incompetent? It was disgusting behavior. I also called the front desk to ask what was happening. A woman named Stephanie was extremely rude, said there was nothing she could do, then transferred me to a dead number. When I called again, she answered and hung up. I went to the front desk, where she was still nasty. My husband, who had already flown home, tried calling too, and she hung up on him as well. This is no way to do business. The hotel and casino need better night staff.

For the price, location, and hospitality, it’s hard to beat. The rooms were clean and it’s right on Fremont St. Everyone was fantastic, especially Denise at the front desk, who was friendly, helpful, and professional and made our stay that much better. I’d give more than five stars if I could. We’ve stayed at a few places in Vegas, and this is our new favorite.
