It was freezing in the room, maybe 55 degrees max, and the heat didn't work. There weren't any extra blankets either. The noise was just as bad, the room literally shook like we were sleeping right on Fremont street. When we called the front desk, they said a quieter room would cost $120 more, though we could pick up complimentary earplugs. There are plenty of other places on Fremont street, so call somewhere else and ask for a quiet room with working heat. The Golden Gate was unbelievable.

The music from the street was so loud it felt like sleeping above a night club. The room was small, sparse, but neat and clean, with few amenities and no coffee maker or fridge. The price was great for a quick trip, though, and I'd recommend it to people in their 20s and 30s. The casino was very clean, hotel staff were friendly, and valet parking was free with a great team. Neil was awesome!

The old Las Vegas theme gives the place a nostalgic feel, even in the rooms. The event called the night starts here made a difference. Free alcohol around 6-7pm brought in a crowd, and the free play envelope added to the music and entertainment. I think people will enjoy staying here, though the fire alarms went off during my stay and ruined my sleep.

I've been coming here since 1993 and have so many memories with friends who are no longer with us. The remodel has wiped out the nostalgic feel of Las Vegas's oldest casino. They took out the small restaurant in the back and replaced all the table games with electronic ones. What a pity.

The staff all seemed nice, and the room was clean, but it was uncomfortable. It was much smaller than I expected, even after reading reviews, smaller than my bedroom at home. Outside the window was an old stairway, a creepy door, and chicken wire. Anything we plugged in slipped out of the sockets, so I had to prop my suitcase against one to keep it connected. The bed wasn't comfortable either. My room was 406. Stay at your own risk.
