Clarion Hotel Lebanon-Hershey East

I booked a non-smoking room for two nights, but the first room smelled disgustingly of cigarettes. They moved me to one that wasn't as bad, though the smell was still there. I needed to sleep, and all the other local hotels and motels were full. Around 2:15 AM, the fire alarm sounded and we had to evacuate for about 45 minutes. Some guests said it had happened the day before too. A firefighter said someone kept pulling the alarm. The next day I told the front desk I was checking out and wouldn't use the second night because of the room smell and the lack of care for the building. I also thought the people staying there were very lower class, and the breakfast was terrible. She just said okay. I called Priceline, but they said they couldn't reach the hotel. I went back to the hotel the next day and spoke with the same front desk woman who'd been there the night before. She was rude in her manner and argued with me about the quality of the room and stay. She said they wouldn't refund me because it was against their policy, even though I checked out early. They could offer a discount on a future stay instead. I told her that wasn't going to happen and explained why. Breakfast was nothing but toast and apples.

At 8:41 PM on February 6, 2026, I had just put my head down to fall asleep when a MOUSE ran across my hotel room floor, into the closet, into the bathroom, back to the closet, under the bed, up under a pillow, then disappeared. I called the front desk and was asked, "what do you want me to do? talk to a manager in the morning about some kind of discount." When I asked for mouse traps, I was told, "we are all out of mouse traps". The bed sheets were stained with bodily fluids, and the whole hotel reeked of cigarrette smoke. There's a bottle opener bolted to the bathroom wall. Trying to get a refund, I was told to call expedia and have them tell the hotel to release the funds. I asked the cashier to put all of that in writing. He didn't want to. On my way out around 10 PM, I saw a uhaul van full of homeless people being unloaded into the parking lot. The city had housed them there. They had no other options but to stay in a rodent, bed bug, and vermin infested ashtray smelling excuse for a "motel". This place should NOT be allowed to continue, and everyone with videos and bad experiences should report it to the health department and the better business bureau. And before I get the standard "response", can it "general manager" with no name. Hire a plumber and an exterminator. Actually, just tear it down. There's no saving that building.

The noise went on all night, with people yelling and doors slamming, and stepping outside after dark felt a little scary. There were people hanging around the lobby and outside, so we left after just one night. I wouldn't stay here again. The room had water leaking around every window, a heater that barely worked and looked battered, missing drywall, and a couch too old and saggy to sit on. There were blood stains on the sheets and mattress pad. The bed wasn't great either, though there was at least a bottle opener beside the toilet if you wanted to crack a beer there. The front desk guy was okay. I knew it was the cheapest motel that weekend, though not by much, and went in expecting it might not be great. I wanted to judge for myself, but the bad things people said in the reviews were true. The website lists a pet charge of 10 per pet per stay, but when I asked, they said 15 per pet per night. Don't rely on what the site says.

The manager wouldn't offer a refund at checkout, and kept saying they'd given us “so many options.” Moving rooms didn't address either the bugs or the hot water. When I asked whether other guests had actually showered, she had no answer. That lack of listening or responsibility was the worst part of the stay. My colleague and I were in town for a three day conference, and this was the closest hotel to the venue. We expected clean rooms for the price, not luxury. On the first night, we noticed a dank smell in the lobby and room. We were exhausted and decided to ignore it, until a very large house centipede appeared on the ceiling. I caught it and put it in the stairwell, thinking it might find food there. Turns out, its food source was in our room. Odd hallway noises and a strong marijuana smell made sleep difficult too. The following night, I found what looked like a roach on the wall above the bed. It ran behind the picture. Between that and the loud neighbors, I barely slept. After the full day at the conference, I tried to shower, but the water was barely lukewarm. I was cold and wanted to dry my hair, but the wall mounted dryer had no power source in the bathroom. At the desk, I was told the hot water was probably low because everyone was showering at once. Then the staff member pointed out the outlet by the dryer as if I couldn't recognize one. That felt like gaslighting. The next morning my colleague also got only lukewarm water. When we returned and asked about it, the front desk asked if we'd turned the hot water knob all the way, as if two adult women couldn't operate a faucet. They offered us another room, though that wouldn't fix bugs or a shared water supply. He said he'd send maintenance, but an hour later no one had shown up. First he said maintenance was on the way, then he called our room asking us to try the water again because the maintenance person wasn't answering. I wasn't sure anyone had contacted maintenance at all. The water was warmer this time, but still not hot.
