Management's answer was, “If you don't like it, you can leave.” I left feeling like I should make a doctor's appointment after staying here. There was hair that wasn't mine in the supposedly fresh bedding, shower, and sink. Black mold surrounded the heating unit, where condensation from the window made puddles by the heater, walls, and floor. Under the microwave, the top of the refrigerator looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months. The shower mat and face cloths were stained and dirty. The room was so filthy I felt cleaner not using the shower. This place is a disgrace. The Health Department should be notified. Keep driving to the next town if you need to.

We left our IDs behind, and the housekeeper called us right away. Check-in had been easy even though it was late, and the room was clean with no issues. The older gentleman working there was very nice too.

A nice man checked me in when I arrived late without a reservation, and I got a single room for under $60. The best part was feeling safe. My car was full of personal belongings and no one bothered it, and both locks on my room door worked properly. That mattered since I was moving several states away. I also had what I needed in the room: a desk and comfortable chair for my laptop, a good fridge for soft drinks, and an efficient wall heater. The wall TV had some great basketball games, and the shower was piping hot in the morning with excellent pressure. I spoke with the owner too, and he's a very nice man.

I manage housekeeping in Ohio, and our rooms never look like this. The sheets were dirty and there was mold on the shower curtain. I know hotels are understaffed like other businesses, but nobody should be checked into a room that hasn't been cleaned. Thank goodness we'd brought all our own things.
