Americas Best Value Inn - Leeds/Birmingham

I’ve stayed here several times and plan to come back. The staff are genuinely caring and friendly, and the rooms are clean with comfortable beds. There’s free Wi-Fi and a continental breakfast, plus a Subway next door and a Buccee's across the street if you need food or anything else.

We booked more than a month ahead for an event in Leeds, AL. We’d stayed here a few years ago and that visit was okay, but this time our first room smelled strongly of marijuana, as though the person smoking had just left. When I asked to move, they sent us to a room that already had someone in it. I’m an unhappy customer and wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone. I will never stay at this chain again.

Our truck broke down on the way home from vacation, so we ended up at the closest place available. We’d paid for a nonsmoking room, but they wanted another $80, so we had to take a smoking room. It smelled horrible, the showers were disgusting, the towels weren’t clean (good thing we brought our own), and the beds were uncomfortable. Unless you’re stuck in a situation like we were, I wouldn’t stay here.

The desk clerk was nice and refunded half our payment, but the room was awful. There was dirt and food all over the carpet, burn holes in the bedspread and tub, and the AC didn’t work. When we pulled back the comforter, we found hair, blood, and food on the bed, so it really looked like the sheets hadn’t been washed. Roaches came out and crawled on us after the lights went off.
