Brook Farm Inn

We found a quiet, restful winter retreat here, and so much more. It’s a beautiful, comfortable, clean property, with gracious hosts and friendly staff. The chef-made breakfasts and evening treats were as good as, or better than, the best we’ve had anywhere. Now we need to come back for the lush gardens and inviting outdoor spaces. An inn for every season.

Breakfast started at 8 a.m. and was served buffet-style, with plenty of tasty choices: veggie and meat frittatas, apple French toast, fruit salad, granola, mini croissants, mini muffins, and more. I left full. The dining room has several tables, so you don't have to sit with strangers. We chose Poet's room. The bed and bedding were very comfortable, and we slept well. One funny heads-up for adult men: the low ceiling above the toilet means you have to sit or twist yourself into a very crooked position to pee standing up. I’m not sure I’ve ever bent that way before. The inn and staff were pleasant, and the neighborhood was quiet. Accommodations around here are shockingly expensive. Chain hotels and little 1950s motels wanted a lot for cookie-cutter rooms and skimpy or nonexistent breakfasts, so I accepted I wouldn't get away cheaply and paid a bit more for a nicer atmosphere and breakfast. I stand by the choice. If everywhere charges inn prices, I might as well stay at a real inn.

The house has several comfortable shared rooms where you can read, chat quietly, or simply relax, all with a cozy, welcoming feel. The owners have furnished it beautifully and paid attention to the little touches. They’re kind and attentive, and make guests feel cared for and at home. Breakfast was delicious, freshly made, flavorful, and nicely presented. You can tell the owners put real care into giving guests a memorable stay. We had a lovely visit at this charming bed and breakfast and will definitely return.

The bed was comfortable, and I loved having the gas fireplace. Maureen’s attention to the little details showed throughout the immaculate room. Coffee delivered to our room first thing in the morning was very welcome, and breakfast was superb. What a fantastic stay. Everyone made us feel so welcome when we arrived. Highly recommend, and we’ll be back.
