Motel 6 Lexington East

We found roaches in several places during our stay a few years back. Years later, it still seems like nothing has been done about the obvious infestation. Along with the cleanliness problems other guests have mentioned, that was appalling. I can't believe the place is still operating. We packed everything into the car as soon as we saw the bugs and reported it at the desk. The man there brushed us off and said he couldn't refund us because the manager wasn't on duty. He also said the manager wouldn't be in the next morning, when we were leaving. Apparently that manager is never around. Trying to get money back through Booking.com took nearly an hour, since they kept directing us to work it out with the hotel. We eventually got a refund several weeks later. In the meantime, we managed to get the only vacant room at the hotel behind the Hustler, where we'd stayed a couple of times before. All the hassle meant we didn't get to bed until after 3 a.m., despite having to get up early after arriving late. I understand wanting to save money, but choose somewhere else, or pay extra for a better hotel or an Airbnb. This wasn't worth the stress or lost time. Someone should report the property to the health department, the Better Business Bureau, or somebody. It needs fumigation or demolition.

The first room had a faulty TV. They moved me, but the replacement room had no fridge. When I asked for a refund, the woman said the manager would be back tomorrow and might give me a partial one. I politely said that wasn't acceptable, and she threatened to call the police. Avoid this place if you don't want that treatment. Zero stars, wouldn't recommend.

The front desk is great, the water pressure is strong, and the shower stays hot. I was lucky to get one of their four smoking rooms. Reservations are fairly easy, and stays longer than a week cost under $50 a night.

The room was quiet and clean, and the location makes it easy to get around Lexington. My three-star rating comes from the lack of basic extras: there's no microwave, mini fridge, hair dryer, or extra seating. If a bed and shower are all you need, it works fine. I checked the description afterward and realized I shouldn't have assumed those common items were included. They weren't advertised.
