I asked by phone before arriving to confirm the place was nonsmoking and pet-friendly, and told them exactly who was coming. The phone information and signs said small pets were accepted, but they didn’t want my cat. The reservation details they gave us were completely inaccurate. The whole place smelled of smoke and aggravated my asthma. The front desk person wasn’t wearing shoes and had to call someone else to check me in because they didn’t speak English. They wouldn’t do anything about the condition of the room. I also had to walk around the building in cold rain after the man at the front ignored me, since nobody was allowed in the lobby. The room was filthy: Pringles were still under the bed, the fabric underneath hung down to the floor, hot water didn’t work, and the AC was intermittent. A screw was missing from the door lock. There weren’t enough outlets, and plugs fell out. People were sitting in the hallways.

The switch is taped up, and the lock on a door inside our room is loose. Even the outside door has to be pushed open.

The hotel’s online photos didn’t match what we found. The lobby furniture and decorations looked dingy and dirty, and there was a pet turtle in an aquarium that struck me as odd. The lobby had a musty smell, and paint was peeling off the room doors. Our floor looked so stained that I first thought it hadn’t been vacuumed. I didn’t feel comfortable walking barefoot. The pillows and bedding were stained yellow, there were plastic bags under the mattress, and dead bugs of some unknown kind were in the picture frame. I checked for bedbugs and honestly was surprised not to find any. If we hadn’t been with a group, we would have left for anywhere else, though it was close to where we needed to be. I’d give it zero stars if I could, and I’ll never stay at a Travelodge again.

We were glad to get a cheap room for the night on our way to hike Sunday, and the room was adequate and clean enough. Breakfast wasn’t listed among the amenities, so we brought sandwiches to microwave. My husband had instant coffee, but the room only had plastic cups. I sent him to the lobby at 8 a.m. in case there was free coffee, but it was closed. There was only a small vestibule accessed from outside, where you slide your card or ID under the glass. The main problem was the heater. Even with the setting at 74, the room felt more like 60. I mentioned it to the person on duty when we left.
