Hampton Inn & Suites Lincoln - Northeast I-80

The room was nice, and the breakfast has been the best of our trip so far. This was our fourth stop heading east, in Lincoln, Nebraska, on Wednesday, September 24, 2025. My wife and I have driven across the country every year for several years, usually staying at Hampton Inns since 2020 because we travel with our service dog, Greta. We stayed at 13 on this trip. Most are in good shape with nice rooms, and the amenities are similar, so the staff and service tend to be what sets each one apart. Breakfast varies a lot between locations. I wish they all had fresh fruit and a meat-free omelet, but most don't. The coffee used to be bitter, though this year it was better at every stop. Thanks for that. Hampton Inns switched from bars of soap to bottles of soap and shampoo a few years ago; I mentioned missing the bar soap in earlier reviews, and over the past two years most locations seem to have brought it back.

The shower's high-pitched squeal made it unbearable to wash my hair, and the air conditioner shook the floor of our room. The beds were stiff, and we were given doubles when I wanted to relax in a queen. We also couldn't get into the pool for over ten minutes because our keys didn't work, and once we did, the water was freezing. They never told us the hotel was being remodeled. The new look is nice, but the fumes from the paint and construction were horrendous, like we couldn't breathe. A staff member said she'd felt lightheaded after her shifts too. Breakfast wasn't fully set out, just grab-and-go items, and they were beside the fumes and renovation supplies, so we couldn't eat them. Highly disappointing. Save your money, never again.

We won't stay here again. The bed felt like bricks, and breakfast was a brown bag with a bagel, warm water, and fruit. They hadn't told us about the construction. The receptionist was helpful and offered to move us because the bathroom light was out, but there wasn't another room available and the light couldn't be replaced.

The building was being renovated, so neither the pool nor breakfast was available. Snow and ice covered the sidewalk to the handicap parking, and the shower had very restricted water flow. The evening desk receptionist seemed pretty clueless, like the lights were on but nobody was home. I've stayed at Hampton Inns for 20 years, and they've been gradually declining.
