Motel 6 Lompoc, CA

The receptionist was friendly and helpful, but should have known that room 138 has no hot water. That was the main problem. Everything else people have mentioned is true too, so take that into account when paying less than $100. I heard every step from upstairs and wondered if a group was living in room 238. This property doesn’t feel like just a hotel. How could it pass the health code without hot water? If you have to stay, bring your own towels, sheets, blankets, and pillows.

The room wasn’t what I’d seen in the pictures, and for what I paid it wasn’t worth it. The listing said breakfast was included, so my family and I came to eat before my son’s baseball game, only to learn we had to pay. When we asked, the woman said they needed to take that claim off their website. I was really disappointed with the stay and thought it was overpriced. The staff were nice and helpful, and the cleaning service was good.

The guy at the counter was cool and got us checked in without trouble. Then we reached the room and found a mess. We’d booked two queen beds, but they weren’t made. There was hair in the sink, no bath towels, no hand soap, nothing. I called the front desk for another room, but they were sold out. The staff member took the blankets away to replace them and came back with only sheets and two pillows, apparently all they had. Looking more closely, I found a giant tick on one of the unmade beds. Disgusting. It was very hot, and the AC didn’t work either. I don’t know who’s managing the place, but never again.

I had a few unpleasant things during my first stay here, but housekeeper Barbara stood out enough that I wanted to write this review. She was so attentive with my requests and took care of them right away. She kept my room exceptionally clean and made the stay much more pleasant. Barbara was friendly and kind. She really showed what good hospitality should be, and made me feel at home. Thank you for being the kindest customer service I’ve experienced, and for making me feel like I never left home.
