Hotel Royal

A quick heads up, parking is $25. Even so, this little place was a great deal, motel pricing for what felt like a 5-star hotel. Jose and the woman at the front desk were incredibly friendly and accommodating. The hotel is cute and comfortable, with free water, bathing equipment, WiFi, and streaming services.

The community kitchen was a highlight. We enjoyed our morning coffee there and chatting with other guests. Staff were helpful and friendly, and the complimentary bottled water and technology were appreciated. Our room was clean and the price was affordable, especially for Long Beach in April. The location is handy for restaurants and attractions. The room was sparse, with just three hangers and no closet. The stairs in the hallway needed a deep clean, and hot water took about five minutes to reach the shower, where the pressure was abysmal. Noise after the bars closed was incredibly loud, though I can’t blame the hotel for that. Would we stay again on our next trip to LB? Probably, if we got a room in the main building. We like boutique hotels for their individual personality, and enjoyed our stay for the most part.

It’s a very small, cute room, but for the price and cleanliness I’d gladly make the same trade again. I’ve already booked another visit for next month. The bed and pillows were so comfortable I slept like a baby. The room was clean, the front desk staff member was friendly, the AC blew super cold, and there was a fan too. The single-person shower took a few minutes to heat up, but that wasn’t an issue for us. Parking feels sketchy, though it’s downtown, where you typically see homeless people walking around. There are stairs, but they’re a good size, not narrow, and only two flights. We had no problem with them. The place met our needs, and the price couldn’t be beat.

We stayed before our cruise from Long Beach, and the location worked well for the cruise terminal and nearby restaurants. The Royal Loft had room for five of us, and the shared downstairs space was a nice extra. They gave us plenty of water and coffee, and the team was kind, responsive, and accommodating. We’ll certainly consider staying again if we’re back in the area.
