Sandpiper Inn

The rooms are super clean and have everything you’d want from home, including a fully equipped kitchen, a beach umbrella, and a blanket on the sofa. I also loved having a walk-in shower instead of a tub. Chris and Harold are the best hoteliers. They provided beach chairs on the powder-sand beach, where there were only about five other people on the private beach. I almost want to keep this small, intimate beach hotel to myself. We were here before and after the hurricanes, and they’ve just reopened. The Hawaiian-like landscaping took a hit, and it always takes a while to grow back.

We only stayed one night at the Sandpiper Inn on Longboat Key, Florida, on a last-minute trip, but the owners made us feel like long-term guests. They were among the sweetest people you could meet and clearly wanted us to be happy and comfortable. The room was charming, with adorable beach-inspired touches that gave it a homey feel. The beach is incredibly close: step outside, turn right, and you’re there in about a minute. The inn provides lounge chairs and umbrellas, so it was easy to relax by the ocean. Whether it’s one night or a longer getaway, I’d happily recommend the Sandpiper Inn. We left smiling.
