There’s no drinking water on site, the shower leaks, and the beds creak. The place itself felt seedy and badly kept, while the neighborhood seemed squalid, with lots of homeless people, people using drugs, and drunks around. I’d read reviews mentioning bed bugs. We didn’t find any, thankfully, though I wouldn’t have been shocked if we had. It’s not even particularly cheap, so I don’t understand the two-star reviews. I’d stay somewhere else.

I felt so unsafe that I stayed in the room instead of going out to ask anyone to quiet down. The noise went on all night: loud sex, music from next door until 6 a.m., and crashes overhead that sounded like furniture being dragged around. The bathroom had cockroaches, and the room smelled of cigarette smoke. Judging by other reviews, I doubt management would have helped anyway. Easily the most revolting place I’ve ever stayed.

After paying almost $500 for a few miserable nights, I was also charged a $50 deposit that they kept. It felt like a scam. The hotel was filthy and seemed unsafe, with people around who were drunk or didn’t care about anyone else. The surrounding area felt even worse, full of homeless people and people using drugs. I wouldn’t risk going outside after dark. There was no sleep to be had with people screaming, fighting, drinking, and having obnoxiously loud sex through the night. Management did nothing to calm things down. The whole place felt neglected. I’d pick somewhere else.

Finding a dead sparrow under the coffee table and strange green marks in the shower was the low point of our stays here. We’d come for Anime Expo every year for four years because the hotel was clean enough and close to the convention center, even if it was never anything special. This visit was far worse. We’d been told the room was ready, but once we started unpacking cosplay and getting our wigs ready, the cleaning problems were obvious. The in-room phone didn’t work, so I had to call the overnight staff from my cell. Someone from housekeeping came with him to remove the bird and disinfect the area, but that was all the response we got. Nobody offered another room or checked that the problem had been handled. The table wasn’t heavy, so missing something so obvious was inexcusable. It was hard to reach the manager around our convention schedule, and when I finally did, they wouldn’t accept responsibility or offer a real solution. The hotel has been getting worse over the years, and now it feels uncomfortable, poorly run, and overpriced. We’re not coming back next year. I’ll tell others in the cosplay and convention community what happened. They need to improve their cleaning and customer service before more returning guests give up.

Johnny at the front desk was friendly and professional, and the beds and pillows were comfortable. I stayed for a week and found it pleasant overall, with spacious, bright rooms and a safe feeling. Parking was usually available, and the price felt fair. A few things could be better. There was no kettle or tea setup in the room or at reception. The floors didn’t seem clean enough, so I bought slippers to keep my socks clean, though the cleaners appeared to be trying. No one helped with our luggage, and I carried it upstairs to the second floor, luckily with help from the Uber driver. On the last night, I could hear neighbors talking and kids singing competitions at midnight. It might’ve been fun earlier!
