Hyatt Place LAX/Century Blvd

The smart elevator setup was a real standout. You pick your floor at a keypad in the lobby, then get directed to an elevator that goes straight there without stopping. It was quick, private, and felt secure, unlike anything we’d seen at other hotels. Hyatt Place LAX was a comfortable place to stay before an early flight. Our room was spacious, modern, clean, and had a Keurig plus a minibar with snacks, wine, water, and sodas. The hotel is an easy walk from several nearby airport hotels and their restaurants. We also took the early morning airport shuttle, which was convenient and dependable. We’d definitely come back when flying through LAX.

Breakfast was excellent, and the gym had good equipment. I appreciated being able to check in early, and the LAX shuttle was handy, though it doesn’t run often. The pool opens at 6 a.m., but there weren’t any towels there. Rooms were clean and well kept; I just wish the shower had stronger pressure. A good pick for a short airport stay.

Nicole at the front desk made me feel welcome right away. She greeted everyone with a big smile and explained the amenities, from the 24/7 fitness center and rooftop pool to how the airport shuttle works. She was wonderful. The Hyatt Place near LAX was clean throughout, from the lobby to the guest rooms, and everything felt fresh and looked well maintained. I had a great stay. If you want a comfortable, spotless hotel near the airport with really good service, I’d recommend it.

I booked a room and flight through Expedia, and the service was awful from the start. Three days before my trip, I called for four days in a row and even messaged the hotel without getting an answer. When my flight changed to an earlier time, I needed early check-in. The man who eventually answered didn’t ask my name or reservation and seemed eager to end the call, telling me to ask when I arrived. At the hotel, a woman said she couldn’t help with early check-in, so I had to find something to do for hours. I tried calling again an hour before check-in, with no answer. When we finally checked in, the front desk woman barely spoke to me and gave me no information, WiFi details, or parking pass. On my last night, I finally reached someone to ask why we were being charged 30 bucks to go in and out of the hotel. He brushed it off and said I could get a parking pass then if I wanted. The room had grey shades and no view. When I called about it, he said, “yeah you got a crappy room,” and walked out. Nobody answered the phone during my stay. There was no room service, either. The room and service were terrible for such a high-priced hotel. I’d never recommend it, at least not for people of color. I watched women of mixed races approach the desk and get brushed off just like I was. So disappointing. I won’t book here again.
