Seaway Motel

We stayed for a month, my ex and I, and the owners were really nice. My ex even helped them load vending machines and things like that. We had a smoking room, but it was always very clean when we returned, and even the cigarette smell would be gone. It wasn't the best time in my life, but Seaway made it better. Someone else staying at the motel took our phone charger, our own fault, but the owner got it back for us. We never had a problem with the room, and the TV had The Walking Dead, which was pretty cool.

The bathroom was in rough shape. The shower tiles were held on with duct tape, the sink was loose from the wall and looked nasty, and the floor was so dirty that walking on it after a shower felt awful. I laid my towel down and walked on it around the floor, and it got really dirty. The room wasn't ready when I arrived, the maid was still finishing up and mopping as she left. The refrigerator was covered in handprints and so filthy I didn't even want to touch it before cleaning it myself. In the morning I unfolded the other body towel, which was supposed to be clean, but it looked dirty too. I took pictures of it hanging on the tall rack, so please look at my photos.

The room was clean, with that Pinesol smell when I opened the door. I like Fabuloso a little better, but fair enough. It's a basic, budget place, and that's what you're getting. I was in LA to be out and about, not sit in a hotel room, so the nearby I-10 noise wasn't a big deal. You might also hear the couple next door celebrating the Dodgers' postseason win over the Phillies pretty enthusiastically. If you need somewhere clean and simple in a decent area, close to where you're going, and don't want to pay for a fancy hotel, the Seaway works. Want anything more than the bare basics? Look elsewhere.

The owner clearly takes pride in this motel, and the rooms and shared areas are clean and well looked after. The solid concrete block rooms and comfortable beds made for a peaceful stay, better than I expected. The location is great, close to buses and the Expo Line for getting around or sightseeing, and not too far from Venice Beach, CA and Santa Monica. There's plenty of on-site parking too. I'd stay again if I'm in the area.
