Silver Lake Pool & Inn

The check-in itself was worrying. I was told the card used to book had been declined, but when I asked which card they had on file, they named a random Visa I don’t own. I arrived around 10:00 PM and couldn’t figure out where the entrance was. After I called, a man came down and opened the gate without greeting or acknowledging me. I asked if this was the Silver Lake Hotel and got no reply. I had to call the front desk again to confirm, and the same man said he’d come back down. No welcome, no help with my bags on the stairs, no basic hospitality. Housekeeping was supposedly by request. I asked for daily service during my full week at Silver Lake Hotel & Pool, but it still didn’t happen. The repeated problems made for a baffling, disappointing stay. For the price, I expected much better professionalism and care. The property felt like a glorified motel with a few cute design touches meant to justify an inflated price. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

America handled both my check-in and check-out at the front, and she was lovely. She was also super helpful when I called with questions a couple of times. We had a short, enjoyable stay at Silver Lake Pool & Inn. The room was spacious, and the restaurant cocktails were delicious. Our bartender was so nice, too. We’ll be back and would recommend the hotel to friends.

The room was gorgeous and huge, and the team made the event trip easy. They held packages for me before I arrived, and on event day the valet loaded my car. They also sorted out a billing issue when I needed a change, without any fuss. Nothing felt like too much to ask, and I’m really grateful. Thanks! X

The location in Silver Lake was convenient and service was fine, but there are plenty of other LA hotels with much better value. I booked because I often stay at Hyatt Hotels, and this place is wildly overpriced for what you get. Even with rates in the hundreds per night, or upwards of $1k as I write this, there wasn’t complimentary water in the room. The so-called upgraded room was basically a bed in the middle with oddly placed chairs, a plant, and a TV. No closet, no desk, and nowhere to set up for work. The walls were thin, so hallway footsteps and other guests’ TVs came through loudly. I used earplugs every night, and I’m not a light sleeper. The AC roared like a jet engine, leaving me to choose between overheating or being woken by the noise. The room also shook regularly during the day and night, as if there were an earthquake. I couldn’t tell if it came from road traffic or movement in the building. And the bed was completely worn out, flattening until I could feel the baseboard. A very disappointing first and only stay.
