The clerk was kind and understanding, so I’d give the service five stars. The room had holes in the walls and sheets, broken tile, and a stale smell. Within 20 minutes, a German cockroach appeared. I wasn’t expecting much for the price, just a bed. I was in town to work for the Derby, but ended up checking out and scrambling to find somewhere else on one of the busiest hotel nights of the year. I’d avoid the place.

Cute and cozy, honestly. For what we needed, it was convenient: no bugs, a good shower, good heat, an okay bed, and a big TV. We had trouble finding our room because there weren’t enough signs, and the night staff never told us where it was.

The laundry room was nice, and it was just $5 for as many loads as you needed, unless other people took up the time you’d rented the key for. The price wasn’t bad, but I wouldn’t recommend staying here. The front desk isn’t staffed 24 hours like the website says, and housekeeping never came. There weren’t towels at the desk either, so if your room had one towel, you had to share it. The second night, we were locked out and couldn’t reach anyone to let us in. They never fixed that, so the night was just a loss. On the fourth night, the key deactivated again, meaning two paid nights went unused. They don’t tell you that putting the key near your phone, watch, wallet, or on the microwave under the TV can deactivate it. They don’t make it right when it happens, so you lose the money and end up in your vehicle.

Don’t go there. I fell out of the tub and landed on my back on the floor between the toilet and bathtub. There was nothing to grab as I fell, and the hotel didn’t seem to care. I hope I’m okay at my age. I’m talking to an attorney and seeking medical attention. My female friend who was with me took photos, but I had no way to cover myself while she photographed me on the floor in that tight space. They showed the same lack of concern while I was there. Go somewhere else.
