Red Roof Inn Louisville Expo Airport

The shuttle was great, and being less than five minutes from the airport was convenient. Staff members were nice to me, and I felt safe inside the building, though I wouldn't take a night walk nearby. Still, I probably wouldn't stay here again. There are several other hotels close by, and I'd try one of those instead. My room was dirty, the fridge smelled bad, and the microwave didn't work. The coffee maker had no pot or coffee supplies. The room phone was dead, so I had to call the desk on my own phone just to ask how to adjust the heat. For $83 a night, those amenities should have worked. Check-in also felt unsafe and unwelcoming because the lobby stayed locked and guests had to go around back to talk to staff through a window. The first night, the staff member checking me in charged nearly double, saying I should pay that rate because I hadn't booked online and then make an online booking. I did book online the next day, but they said they never got it. While I was away, staff took all my luggage and belongings out of the room, which was shocking and unprofessional. Most staff didn't speak English well, and I was patient about that. The woman who did speak English was very rude when I asked if she could help charge my phone. My adapter was for international outlets, and I gave her my cable and said I was in Room 108. She said she needed special training to charge a phone and that the assistant manager had told her she wasn't allowed to help. When I respectfully asked where I could buy an adapter at 11 PM, she rolled her eyes, walked away, and ignored me. The stay was stressful and far below basic hospitality standards.

The rooms are warm and nice, and housekeeping does a very good job. Dave has been especially kind and helpful during our extended stay, and I'm grateful for that.

The AC kept the room comfortable on hot nights, and the bed was surprisingly comfortable too. The neighborhood wasn't great, though it wasn't among the worst I've seen. The bathroom floor had dead flies, and the toilet was full of unflushed toilet paper. There was also still a faint cigarette smell in the room. It's an okay place if you don't have other options.

At 3am, people were screaming and fighting outside our door. Waffle House employees next door told me that some people live here and that this happens all the time. My daughter needed a shower, but when I asked for towels, they refused to give us any.
