Room one was very quiet and looked out over the lake. I heard the ducks and goose more than other guests, though people in room seven above me could be heard walking around in the morning. I visited in early spring, and the temperature was comfortable, but there’s no individual room control. They do provide extra blankets, so you can adjust what you wear or use. The owners might consider putting radiant space heaters in the closets for guests who want their rooms warmer than the house setting. The owners are friendly and accommodating, though they tend to be around in the afternoons. That’s just something to know if you need a lot of attention. I stayed five days and found it a comfortable base for work and free time. I didn’t realize until my second night that the second floor has a full kitchen and living room. Once I found it, I could buy groceries, store them in the fridge, and, with the owners’ permission, use the oven. I’d check here first if I return to Lowell. Be sure to explore the whole property when you arrive.

Marc was attentive and friendly, and it was clear he cared about making the stay a good one. The hotel has an old-school character you don’t find in newer places, and everything seemed well cared for. It felt welcoming as soon as I arrived, and I’d happily stay here again.

The location is great, right on the river in the middle of town and not far from Grand Rapids. It feels like a self-service inn, since there was no staff on duty while we were there. Some rooms are larger than others. Ours was clean and somewhat comfortable.

We stayed in the honeymoon suite while getting ready for my wedding, and it worked out wonderfully. The river balcony was awesome, and I liked the tall ceiling with its skylight. The service was friendly, courteous, and knowledgeable. It’s just 10 minutes from Fallasburg park, where we got married. We’ll definitely stay again.
