This hotel is an easy drive from Texas Tech and Providence Covenant, and everything about the stay felt well supported. De'monica and Eric were especially good, with just the right mix of professionalism and personality. The other onsite staff were excellent too. The open atrium is well designed, and the building keeps noise isolated between rooms and floors, which matters to me as someone who sleeps during the day. My room had a comfortable bed, plenty of hot water, and good water pressure. Breakfast was better than any similar hotel I've stayed in, with real eggs and sausage cooked just right. The gym had updated, high-end equipment, and I had no distractions during my stay.
Texas Tech is close by, so this is a handy place to stay if you're doing things around campus. The front desk service was excellent, the lobby was very clean, and breakfast was organized well. It was a simple continental spread, though the choices were the same both days. The hotel was bug-free as far as I could tell and clean overall. One bed had stained sheets along the side, which I hope the maid just missed while changing them. I didn't use that bed, and it didn't ruin the stay. I'd stay here again.
This was a horrible stay for my family and me, especially when we were already in town for a funeral. I won't stay here again. Several rooms in our family group had problems, and after all this the hotel offered me just 15% off the first night. My second room had no face towels. When I asked downstairs, they said the hotel was out of towels. The hall lights by that room were out too. In the first room, the bathroom hadn't been cleaned before I arrived: there was hair in the shower and the toilet looked used and uncleaned, so I couldn't take my usual shower that night. Housekeeping cleaned it the next morning. Before leaving for the funeral, I asked staff to change my sheets while I was out, but when I returned around 6 p.m., they still hadn't done it. They moved me to another room after that.
I'm very disappointed, and my family won't return. We arrived as walk-ins after leaving the cancer center and asked for a handicap room for my mom, given the day we'd had. At first, they said we'd get one on the fourth floor. Then, after my dad paid cash for the room, the employee asked for a card for incidentals, which I expected. I asked about the $100 and was told it would be charged, then the room would be inspected at checkout to decide whether we got the money back. I've worked in hospitality for 15 years, and that's no way to treat customers. A few minutes later we got keys and were told the room wasn't handicapped, just the same room type. They put us on the sixth, top floor, at the very back, farthest from the elevator. My mom and I are both handicapped. Mom was just diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer, and they put us in a room that wasn't equipped to make her comfortable for the night.
The TV was small and had very few channels, which is why I didn't give this a five-star rating. Aside from that, the hotel was good. The beds were comfortable, the shower had 10/10 hot water pressure, breakfast was fresh and pretty good, and customer service was also 10/10. It's just five minutes from Texas Tech, and I'd recommend it and definitely book again.
