Rockville Centre Hotel - JFK Airport

The room was tiny and cost me $500 a night, and there aren’t any restaurants nearby. I got treated like I was homeless by the staff. Honestly, the gas station across the street has better breakfast. The front desk also sells bottled water for cash at a lower price than the hotel shop.

We had plenty of parking, but the stay was a mess. On Saturday at 6:45 a.m., someone tried to enter our room, and thank goodness we had the top latch on. The front desk had assigned our room to someone else without updating the system, so by 7:30 I wasn’t going back to sleep. The AC also shuts itself off at 2 a.m. We only learned there was breakfast after calling the desk. Earlier, we’d been sent to room 310 after the maid in our first room, 205 or something, said she wasn’t finished cleaning and told us to go back downstairs. The front desk staffer was nice. We struggled to open the new room’s door until a maid helped my husband, since you have to put your back into it. The room was clean, but the TV is small, unless you want to watch the larger one in the lounge. When we tried to shower, water sprayed everywhere except where it should, and the shower head needs replacing. We’d only decided at the last minute to stay for a night on the way to the beach, about ten minutes away.

I travel a lot and am a Diamond member at Holiday Inn Express. Whenever I try a different hotel chain, I end up disappointed, so I’d stick with Holiday Inns. Here, service was great, but the decor was average and the beds were bumpy. It was an okay stay overall, though I’d think there are cheaper places with the same amenities.

You get what you pay for, so I hope this is the cheapest place in town. The driver was dangerously careless, and the front desk receptionist was rude and impossible to deal with. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone except people using the location as a motel for shady transactions.
