Thunderbird Inn

The rooms were clean and comfortable, though dated and needing maintenance. You get what you pay for. But check-in was a mess: with two people working, it still took over 15 minutes. While we waited, one woman reported that someone was already in the room she'd been assigned. A few minutes later, another guest said her room hadn't been serviced. That evening, a couple told us they'd been given a room with a naked woman in it. I'd ask to see the room before paying.

We booked one of the other hotels run by the same people, but were switched to another property without being told. All four places apparently share this check-in desk at the Thunderbird. The first room was tiny and the AC was loud, so they eventually moved us to the Thunderbird. That room was adequate and had a comfortable bed. The refrigerator didn't work, but they promptly brought in a replacement. What really wasn't acceptable was the condition of the pools at all four hotels. They were filthy and shouldn't have been open. I've attached photos.

We were only stopping for the night, so the room worked out fine. It was clean, if dated, and the front desk person was friendly. We actually stayed at The Great Lakes Inn, owned by the Thunderbird Inn, and had to drive next door to check in. For a room with several people, they left us just one towel, one hand towel, and two washcloths. Having to go back to the hotel next door for more was silly.

For the price, it wasn't bad, but finding a cockroach on the wall while packing this morning is a HUGE PROBLEM. Now I have to unpack carefully. The room was dated but clean. The coffee maker wouldn't stay on, so I had to stand beside it, and the fridge door wouldn't close because its small freezer compartment was packed with ice. We asked for another fridge and were told one would be brought in, but it never arrived. Judging by the room, I wonder if the place was recently taken over.
