M Star Hotel Mansfield

The room was filthy. Curtains were coming off the windows, the air conditioner didn’t work, and the blankets had cigarette burns. After I showered, I was naked, sitting on the bed when the front desk man barged in. He demanded I leave, saying he thought my husband had left in an emergency and that he’d refunded our money. I told him my husband had only gone to get a drink and that he must have the wrong room. My husband came in behind him, told him he had the wrong room too, and tried not to punch him. What kind of motel employee walks into someone’s room without knocking or calling? I’m traumatized by this and wouldn’t recommend the motel. I think it should be shut down.

I checked out just five minutes after checking in. The room was gross and smelled bad, and the guy at the front desk made me uncomfortable. When I called later to ask for a refund, they were rude and refused. The worst experience possible. Don’t stay here.

It turned out nicer than I expected. It’s no Hilton, but it does the job if you need an inexpensive place to stay.

I only needed somewhere safe and comfortable to sleep, and got that for half what a chain motel would have cost. I’d been wary of booking a cheap independent motel, but was pleasantly surprised. The desk guy was friendly and quick, and even pointed me toward a place to get dinner. The room was clean, though the furniture looked like it all came from a thrift shop. I had to jiggle the toilet handle, but sorted that out myself. The old window AC was louder than I’d like, which was the main downside.
