The hotel was clean, but really outdated. I've never seen a room closet made from a shower rod and curtain over a clothes pole attached to the wall. The furniture looked like it was probably new around 2000, and bathroom ceiling plaster was crumbling. The elevators were incredibly slow and noisy. I think I could walk up all five flights faster.

You have to ask for housekeeping because rooms aren't cleaned every day. I've learned that's pretty typical for longer stays at budget hotels after COVID, and the front desk was helpful once I requested service. In summer, check that the fridge and AC work before unpacking. Breakfast is provided daily and is good.

I got in around midnight and found the room hadn't been made. Keri-Anne looked concerned and managed to upgrade me. As I headed out the next morning, she put a couple of oranges and an apple in a bag for me and wished me safe travels. Thanks, Keri-Anne!

The staff member who greeted me was nice, but the bed was uncomfortable and the room had almost no soundproofing. After staying there, I had bites in unusual places, so make of that what you will. I have to change this to one star because the bed bug bites were awful to deal with for about a week afterward.

The little things made this stay especially nice. I wasn't feeling well, and a cup of tea from the complimentary coffee, tea, and hot chocolate in the lobby was very welcome. The next morning I was able to get a fresh cup of good coffee to start the day. I've been a frequent flyer for 20 years and stayed in plenty of hotels, and I was very pleased with this Hampton Inn. The front desk staff were polite and friendly. My room was exceptionally clean, with basic toiletries, plenty of towels, comfortable bed, pillows and linens, and a huge TV. The location is excellent, just off the interstate and close to lots of restaurants and stores in case you need something you forgot. Well done, Hampton Inn. You've never disappointed me.
