Americas Best Value Inn St Louis/airport

The breakfast cook was very nice and helpful, and the woman at checkout was okay and gave my husband a receipt. But the other staff were unfriendly, almost rude. When I asked the young man at the desk for the rewards phone number, he couldn't be bothered to look it up. We've stayed at many Best Western Plus hotels, and if we're in that area again, I'll consider a different one.

We stayed here before flying out of St Louis. Our TV had a problem, and after trying to fix it, Josh, the front desk clerk and manager, got us into another room. He was great and clearly committed to looking after guests. Kudos to Josh. Best Western should take care of him, he's awesome.

At bedtime, the fire alarm's green light kept blinking, disturbing our sleep, and we were concerned its batteries weren't up to date. When I called the front desk for help, he said we'd have to wait until morning. I asked for the problem to be passed to a manager, and he hung up on me. We were left in a room with an alarm that had no battery, and he told us, “there is no fire so go to bed.” The way we were treated was awful. At check-in the receptionist was extremely rude and immediately had an off-putting attitude. While I was giving my phone number, he said, “say that again and don’t look the opposite direction this time”. He could easily have asked me politely to repeat it.

At check-in, there was hair in plain sight in the shower. When I worked for Marriott, that wouldn't have been tolerated, but the standards here don't seem very high. Housekeeping also makes way too much noise slamming doors, even when guests aren't checking out. I had a do not disturb sign up, but they knocked and tried to come in anyway at only 10am. They don't read English well, and you can't get any rest here. I wouldn't recommend this hotel. There's a nice double tree right across the street, and that's where I'll stay next time.
