By checkout day, people were stuck in the elevator and everyone had to use the stairs. Earlier, all our room keys had stopped working, leaving the whole group waiting in the hallway while they were fixed. Even the microwaves were missing their trays, so I texted my sister to check hers too, but her room was missing one as well. Breakfast included expired yogurt, though I did enjoy the waffles. The problems started when we checked in late. Friends were messaging about black mold throughout their bathrooms, moldy towels in the fridge, someone’s medicine left in a cabinet, toenail clippings in beds, bugs, and a vape under one person’s bed. I found bugs in my room too, plus a disturbing stain near my headboard when I checked for bedbugs with a black light. The shower water ran full blast all night and day, and one roommate woke several times wondering who was in the shower. This was a two-night stay in October for a group event, and the whole thing felt like a fever dream. For a memorable stay you’ll never forget, go here. Otherwise, pass.

The hot breakfast was the best part, with a nice range of freshly served food to start the day. The rooms were decent, if nothing special. Parking right by the entrance can be hard to find if you arrive late, though there’s plenty of free parking farther away. Our stay at Comfort Inn Suites at Westport Plaza was okay.

The location was good and the staff pleasant, but I left early and wouldn’t return. The hotel is old and it shows. My first room smelled of smoke, the second of mildew, and its toilet took a long time to flush. The room I finally stayed in was okay, until I was bitten by what I believe were bedbugs and saw a roach scurrying around the bathroom. There was no manager available when I checked out, so I told the staff.

I went to bed hungry and embarrassed after the staff made me rebook my room, even though I told them there was already a charge and gave them a confirmation number. They said my Choice Hotels number didn’t match my name, because my rewards program number didn’t match. My card was charged a second time, then declined when I tried to buy dinner. Staff were focused on telling me I was wrong and getting me to sign up for rewards instead of helping resolve it. Roaches in my room too. What happened to this place? I’ve stayed here several times before, but this was my last visit. At first, staff said there weren’t two charges and that I was mistaken. They scrolled through my bank account, saw both charges, and said they’d take care of it. In the morning, when I tried to address their attitude and poor service, I was again told I was wrong. No kidding, the night staff had fixed the issue they said hadn’t happened.

The staff were pleasant, but the inside felt more like a motel than a hotel and looked very sketchy. Don’t be fooled by the lobby photo. The floors were stained and filthy, and the tiny elevators felt scary and smelled of cannabis and damp mustiness. In room #326, the bathtub faucet leaked all night. The AC swung between arctic cold and barely working. It wasn’t worth what we paid.
