Viking Arms Inn

I wasn't pleased with the hotel or the people running it. The bed was really hard and barely had any pillows. Breakfast was awful, just one slice of bread and a small muffin, nothing else. The ice machine hardly worked, and none of the pop machines worked.

We had a spacious King room for our one-night stay. The shower was a bit small, though the water pressure was great. Nice motor lodge, and the friendly folks let us check in an hour early. Good location.

I check for bed bugs whenever I stay somewhere. I didn't find any, but I did find several dried bodily fluid stains on the mattress cover. There were dried bodily stains on the bed cover too. I felt nauseated and showed pictures to the woman at the front desk. She said the owners would have to look before deciding what to do. They had no rooms left, and all I wanted was a refund so I could leave. The two owners were elderly. I showed them the stains, but the man said he couldn't see the problem and kept insisting the sheet covered it just fine. I told him it should be taken off and washed. I couldn't believe how much pushback I got. It made me think the stains were from previous guests and that they don't change the cover, just put another one over it. I left without staying because I didn't trust the cleanliness or safety of the rest of the room. They wouldn't refund me because I had booked through a third party.

There were dead bugs and spider webs in every corner, and the room smelled musty. I told a staff member, who just kept saying, “OK, OK,” and no one came to clean. I watched the cleaning staff, and they never had a mop or vacuum. My granddaughter even wanted to go buy a candle. We won't be back.
