Hampton Inn by Hilton Charlotte/Matthews

We had two adjoining rooms, and both had chairs with large, visible stains. The same temperature setting left one room much hotter than the other, and the fan was very loud. After our trip, we came home with bumps on our arms that may or may not have been bed bugs. We're loyal Hampton Inn customers, but this location was terrible.

I'm a Hilton Honors member and travel often, and this was one of the worst hotels I've stayed in, if not the worst. The room smelled stale, and the four of us were given only two small towels. I called in the morning to ask for more so my family could shower before we continued our travels. No one came. I called again an hour later and was told someone would be sent, but still nobody showed up. We managed to shower and get ready as best we could. At 11, just as we were heading out at checkout, the maid finally brought towels. I told her no thanks, we'd asked two hours earlier and were already leaving.

The front desk staff were polite and helpful, and everyone was very nice. The breakfast was good, and the woman serving it was polite and kept everything clean and well stocked. We stayed four nights total, Wednesday and Thursday, then Monday and Tuesday. The first room had a humming noise. The manager tried to help, and it wasn't happening much the second night, so I just used earplugs. The second room was all good and quiet. Thanks, Renee.

Hampton Inn Charlotte/Matthews gave our group of 50 cross-country runners and coaches a warm, welcoming stay. The rooms were ready, and they had a thoughtful welcome gift for people in our party. Everyone was helpful and gracious throughout, and the setup for our rooms, conference room, and local services went smoothly. Special call-out to Katherine Morgan in Sales, who was amazing to work with: responsive, accommodating, and creative.
