Red Roof Inn Memphis - Graceland/ Airport

They did point me toward a better hotel, Holiday Inn up the street, and I appreciated that. But I was told I could get a refund for my room and never received one. The room looked nothing like the photos. The whole hotel felt run-down, poorly maintained, and badly managed, and being there felt scary. A waste of money, and I wouldn’t recommend it.

Room 104 was freezing, with the heat out even though it was 19 degrees outside. The bottom of the door had about a one-inch gap, so cold air came right in. The hot water didn’t work either. Sheets were stained and covered in cigarette burns. Worst Red Roof I’ve stayed at.

I rushed back to the front as soon as I saw the room, but the sign said no refunds after 10 minutes. It was supposed to be smoke-free and reeked. There were piles of dirt on the floor, and the pillows, which weren’t even on the bed, were a color I can’t describe. The sink had burn marks or holes, and trash bags were scattered around the property. At least a much better place was only a few minutes away for the same price.

A friend had stayed here several times and said it was clean and that he liked it, so I booked based on his recommendation. When I arrived, the place was filthy, like nobody had cleaned it and they’d just put things back in place. If you’re bringing a lot of lizards, I guess it’s fine. For a decent place to spend a week or so, I’d avoid it. I could keep my own house this dirty if I tried.
