Quality Inn Memphis Airport

A quick drive gets you to Graceland, and it's easy to get to and from the interstates. The hotel sits in a commercial and industrial area with truck dealers, so there isn't much food nearby. It's also on a busy road and you can hear traffic, though the building seems reasonably soundproofed. Side- or back-facing rooms are available if that noise bothers you. I sleep deeply and find road noise soothing, so it didn't bother me. The area seemed fine to me, and the gated parking was a plus. I'd definitely stay again. My room was updated, very clean, and had the amenities I expected. Rates were reasonable, and the walls are fairly solid. I only heard the person upstairs thumping around for one night. It was generally quiet otherwise. Breakfast is free but skimpy, and the waffle machine sticks.

The room had a smoke alarm removed and not replaced, a missing light bulb that left it half dark, and duvets with burn holes. The white towels were stained. In the next room, kids screamed and cried through the night and morning. I called reception, but nothing was done. The included breakfast was just waffles and Cheerios, so calling it breakfast felt like a scam. Staff didn't care when I asked about it and could barely communicate. The ice and vending machines were off, leaving no food or drinks on the premises. General neglect and disrepair sum this place up. Worst roadside motel I've stayed at. Stay away.

The rooms were clean, the bed was comfy, and both bedside tables had charging ports. When I went looking for a soda machine, someone gave me a complimentary two-liter Coke. Everyone was accommodating, and the clerk who checked me in was friendly. As a platinum member, I asked at check-in for a noon checkout instead of 11 a.m., and the clerk said that was fine. Around 10:45 a.m., housekeeping knocked to ask when I'd be leaving. I told them I'd been given a noon checkout. They hadn't heard about the late checkout, but sorted it out with the front desk.

Both rooms had mold, and the sheets themselves had holes from smoking embers, not just the top sheet. I thought the first room might have been an oversight and asked to switch, but the second was worse. They know about this from earlier reviews, yet apparently haven't acted. Don't stay here if you need somewhere to sleep between flights. It's not suited to people traveling by air. Better vibes elsewhere are worth paying another $100.
