The Rambler

The room itself is great, but they promised amenities and didn’t provide them. We booked a cabin for vacation because we wanted a jacuzzi, and on the first day they said they were working on it. The next day, it was closed indefinitely. We couldn’t even use the grills. Don’t stay for the pool or hot tub. If you only want a room, it’s a great place, but don’t count on those extras.

The room was cute, really clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed. We didn’t have any noise trouble, and we loved the pool and free laundry. Parking right out front was easy, free, and there was always a spot, though we didn’t leave anything in the car. The location was perfect for walking to good food, shopping, and Beal Street for entertainment. We loved everything about our stay at The Rambler and would definitely come back.

We stayed on a Monday, and it was super quiet and relaxed. The hotel is small and remotely managed, with no staff on site. My guess is some locals have figured out it’s a good place for pool parties, renting one room and bringing friends along, so weekends may be loud. Management could enforce the rules, especially since there are cameras everywhere. A booking notice saying two guests per room, no parties, and a $500 security deposit that would not be refunded for a party might help stop that problem. Our room was huge, modern, and well maintained, with a kitchen, bedroom, and full bath. The pool and hot tub were great too. We had hesitated because of the mixed reviews, and I think the day of the week may explain some of them. We’re already planning another couple of days in Memphis and will stay at The Rambler again if it’s available.

The rooms are beautiful and the location is great, but I wouldn’t stay here if you need to sleep. There’s no management on site, and the walls and high ceilings seem super thin. The upstairs and next door neighbors partied from when they arrived after 4 until my alarm went off at 5 AM. I called the management hotline several times, but the noise kept going. Management said they emailed guests to remind them about quiet hours and tried calling the others, but no one answered. I paid for a nice place to sleep and ended up frustrated, angry, annoyed, and exhausted. It seems like a good place if you plan to party all night.
