Comfort Inn Meridian - Bonita Lakes

We stayed for the weekend while in town for a wedding. The location felt safe, with easy access to shopping and restaurants, and beautiful Bonita Lakes is only a few minutes away. The building is a bit dated but clean and well maintained. Our room was spacious, the amenities were good, and the staff were always friendly and helpful, greeting us whenever we saw them.

I was wary because the room rate was so good, but this turned out to be a great choice. The staff were friendly and helpful, and offered us coffee when we arrived. Our room was clean and a nice size, and breakfast even had bacon and eggs. I'd definitely recommend this hotel.

The end of our stay went badly. Two people in our party are 100% VA rated disabled veterans, but staff wouldn't let anyone, including hotel guests, use the public bathroom in the lobby. They said people from outside vandalize it and directed us back to our third-floor room, offering to reactivate the key if necessary. Maintenance joined in and was rude about it. The buffet worker also seemed unhappy that I was taking the photos I've uploaded, even though they aren't negative review photos. Earlier, check-in had been fine. I chose this hotel online for the balance of location, price, and value, and I'm a PLATINUM MEMBER. The room was a little musty, but not overwhelmingly so, which seems typical of a lot of places in the South. Breakfast was clean and decent, although the man working there hovered a bit.

I booked a king suite, but at check-in they said they were out of king rooms and put me in a double for the same price. That might have been okay if it were an equivalent room, but what I got was a basic double, not a suite. When I went straight back to the desk, the employee said I could cancel but wouldn't get my money back, so I could accept it or leave. If the advertised room isn't available, they should offer one of equal value, not downgrade me with no recourse. The side door also didn't lock, so the hotel didn't feel secure. Avoid this place. You may not get the room you booked, and I was treated extremely rudely.
