Roami at The Carmela

After making the reservation, I got uneasy when they asked for another deposit and a selfie. They gave no invoice or receipt, just wanted more money and biometric information. I looked up reviews and became convinced this wasn’t a reputable organization. I tried to cancel right away, both by replying to the email and using the website contact form, but there was no phone number and they never answered my daily messages. Other sites showed a three-day cancellation period, so when that time came I searched for another contact and found an email on their Facebook page. They finally replied there and said their policy didn’t allow cancellations. I checked their policy online and couldn’t find that rule. They called it an internal policy. Even if it existed, I believe these policies are illegal under Florida law. I’m disputing the charge with my credit card and plan to file in small claims. I’d avoid Roami. I regret not using a reputable company, and I’ve learned my lesson.

A really bad Airbnb stay. There’s no parking included, and parking on the street near the entrance costs about $50 a day. The Wi-Fi was awful and dropped out roughly every 15 minutes. The building’s fire alarm kept going off, and the bathroom door wouldn’t lock. Just a bad experience all around.

The two-bedroom apartment was so cramped that we kept getting in each other’s way. The sheets had hair on them, and there was a strange musty smell in the hallway. It didn’t match the listing, and I hope nobody mistakes this for an affordable Airbnb because it isn’t. The elevator was broken, so we had to carry luggage up three flights of stairs for a four-night stay. There was no parking, while the apartments next door had private parking. These days it seems like anyone can rent out an apartment on Airbnb, smdh!
