Management seemed nice, and the stay was decent and more affordable than most. The bathroom has new upgrades, and there was a fridge and microwave. The AC worked well, so I wasn't sure why there was a dehumidifier in the room. Some areas could use better cleaning, and housekeeping seemed minimal. Breakfast was scant, but it's free. I also think couples shouldn't pay the same as big families, and these hotels should charge extra for additional guests and children.

Breakfast went beyond the usual continental spread with boiled eggs, though there wasn't any meat. We had a quiet, enjoyable one-night stay. The room was clean, the beds were comfortable, and the staff were friendly and efficient.

The location was good for visiting local beaches, and it was affordable compared with most nearby hotels. Just don't expect much beyond that. The staff seemed nice and willing to help, but the room had a lot of problems. I don't feel safe in a hotel with outside-facing doors and no deadbolt. We raised this with staff, who said maintenance would install one the next day, but it never happened. The sink was partly broken and leaking onto the cabinet below. A very loud humidifier was in the room, and even on a 70-degree day, the AC didn't seem to cool it much. The floor and bed felt as if someone had come back from the beach and napped there before we arrived, which made for an odd night's sleep. When we went to the pool, there were no towels, even though the front desk had confirmed there should be some. Breakfast wasn't exciting: yogurt, hard-boiled eggs, bread, and waffles, with coffee, orange, apple, and cranberry juice, plus water.

We stayed for the Newport marathon and needed to leave early because we wanted to get home before the storm worsened. We checked out at 2 p.m. Sunday instead of on Monday as planned, but they charged us for another full night. Their website says late checkout is available for an extra $40. In an emergency, I expected them to be more flexible and offer that fee instead of charging a whole night. They didn't explain our options and seemed to take advantage of the situation. The customer service was awful, and I wouldn't recommend staying here.
