Econo Lodge Inn & Suites Middletown - Winchester South

My husband and I booked online through Priceline at the Econo Lodge in Middletown VA, not realizing what we were walking into. The whole hotel reeked of cigarette smoke. In our room, a used crack cocaine pipe sat on the table, as shown in the photo. We left immediately and went to the front desk. The receptionist assured me we'd get a refund, though frankly she looked as if she might just have been smoking from that pipe. After several calls, we still had no refund. Choice Hotels and Priceline customer service weren't helpful, so I filed complaints with both. They refused the refund, but I disputed the charge with my credit card company and got my money back. The manager was never there to authorize a refund. Probably because the manager uses the crack pipe too. Choice Hotels runs a drug den at the Econo Lodge, and Priceline books people into this filthy, unsafe place where drug paraphernalia is left openly in rooms. Avoid them all if you care about your health and safety.

For my first visit today, I was impressed by how large the rooms are. The price was a pleasant surprise, and Carolyn at the front desk was friendly and professional. Right off the interstate, it's a perfect hotel, and I highly recommend it. It deserves way more than five stars. Thanks for a very comfortable stay. I'll definitely be back.

The people are nice and it's near the highway, but the room was disgusting. The walls were dirty, the chair was filthy and stained, the blanket had cigarette burns, and paint was peeling. Avoid it, there are better places.

It's extremely close to the highway, so it's handy if you just need a place to sleep while traveling. It's pet friendly, with a fee but no weight limit, and the backyard is great for letting the dogs have some fun. The front desk service wasn't bad, and I would stop again on another road trip. The room was, uh, let's just say I'm glad my mother wasn't with me, haha. The comforter had a cigarette burn and the furniture was old and looked a bit abused. The heat didn't work and left a gross burning smell. I was a little chilly, but I had my dogs, and I still got a great night's sleep.
