The room was large and ready for us, with a nice shower, plenty of towels, and good toiletries. The restaurant was decent too. I would book again, but the furniture in the public spaces looked like it hadn't been cleaned or shampooed in years, and the elevator floors needed attention. I hope they focus on a thorough cleaning.

The front desk person was very polite and welcoming. If you need to stay in central Middletown, this is a decent option, but it feels overpriced for a Motel experience. We only stayed one night, checking in at three, leaving at 10pm, then checking out at 10am, so I didn't bother raising these things. I left my key in the room and went out the back, tossing my trash into the big dumpster, which was empty, instead of beside the ten bags piled near it. The parking is behind the building, so we had to enter at the back door, where two dumpsters sit within 25 feet of the entrance. Both had room, but about 10 giant trash bags were stacked beside them, making the entrance look bad. Our room was mostly clean, but the cabinet door hiding the mini fridge was hanging off its hinge. The tub spout had come away from the wall, and pulling the lever for the showerhead made it separate from the tub. Some tightening and caulking would fix it. There was trash in our bucket, either left by the cleaner or the previous guest, which looked like a rushed cleaning job. The toilet handle took a hard push against resistance and had to be held down to flush. These might sound minor, but they suggest maintenance isn't a priority.

The Inn at Middletown has New England style and charm, and the staff are friendly and always accommodating. It's without a doubt the finest hotel in Middletown, CT, and the location makes it easy to get anywhere in town or to Hwy 9. They're pros who take care of every last detail, so I'd highly recommend the Inn for events and large groups.

The rooms at the Middletown Inn were large, clean, and comfortable, with plenty of restaurants and coffee shops nearby. I stayed in early December for a funeral, and it was a lovely, quaint, convenient place overall. Becky at the front desk was delightful, and the manager, whose name I didn't catch, was very nice. The bartender was less impressive. At 9 pm on Wednesday, he said the bar was closing, though it wasn't, and at least six people were still sitting in the small, homey bar. Becky had told us it stayed open fairly late when people were there. He just wanted to go home and didn't seem keen to serve anyone arriving. One other suggestion: tell guests Uber doesn't serve the area. I couldn't get one to the funeral, and a different receptionist didn't have any local taxi or driver numbers handy. That seems like useful information for travelers. I ended up having my daughter order a Lyft because my app wasn't working.

The hotel is within walking distance of town, with lots of shops and places to eat. Parking turned out to be easy: we dropped our bags at the front, parked in the free lot behind the hotel, then used the guest key entrance at the back. The front desk staff were great, and the cookies were yummy. We loved the Inn of Middletown. The decor was beautiful, a very modern take on colonial, and our room was lovely, large, and well appointed. Breakfast in the tavern was outstanding.
