The room was filthy, with grime over everything, mold everywhere, carvings in the walls and furniture, and dirty sheets and pillowcases. The sheets also had cigarette burns. The deadbolt didn’t work, the air unit was broken and swung between freezing and very hot, and the smell from guys smoking weed outside got into our clothes and bags. There was a police raid in the room below mine, with five police cars, guns drawn, and lots of shouting. I had to walk uncomfortably close to it after the first room they assigned had a dead lock battery, leaving me locked out and forcing me to go back to the main office. It was all just very bad.

A week after checkout, I still hadn’t received the $50 incidental deposit back. I left the room as I found it, not a mess. The rate also wasn’t what the map advertised: it was $130 per night plus tax. When I followed up, I was told he “didn’t charge me” for incidentals. I can only assume the fee was folded into the nightly rate and he said that so he could keep the money. This place seems shady, and I’d avoid it if you don’t want to feel ripped off.

The room smelled strongly of marijuana, despite all the no-smoking signs, and the towels felt like sandpaper. I’ve had softer napkins at a gas station. From the start, the area around the parking lot felt shady, and I was uneasy. At check-in, the front desk worker was behind thick glass, and I could barely hear her. They also don’t accept American Express, but I couldn’t find that information on their website. That should be made clear beforehand. This was one of the worst hotel stays I’ve had. If you want somewhere comfortable, clean, and safe feeling, look elsewhere. I wouldn’t stay again even for free.

They’d tried to update the rooms, but ours wasn’t clean and smelled strongly of marijuana. The bed had a metal base that was extremely uncomfortable, and there was no microwave.
