The breakfast was the one bright spot. It was amazing, fresh, and the area was kept clean. The bartender was also probably the nicest, most accommodating employee we met. The hotel’s bar and grill closing at 9pm seemed odd, though. The rest of the stay felt pretty awful. The room smelled like dirty old carpet and mildew, possibly because it was damp. The walls by the window were so wet the paint was bubbling. The bathroom wasn’t clean, and our request to have the room cleaned and vacuumed wasn’t handled. Getting towels each day was a struggle. We were late to our event because we didn’t have any to shower with, and when towels were available, we had to go downstairs for just three large ones for our family of four. I couldn’t reach the front desk from the room phone, so I had to use my cell whenever I needed help. Wet towels and garbage sat outside several doors for over 24 hours. A roof door was left open all night, which worried me. The pool went down to 8ft with no lifeguard and lots of unsupervised kids, which felt unsafe. I felt icky the whole time. This was probably the worst hotel I’ve stayed in.

The mattress gave me no support and collapsed under my pretty average-sized body. The pillows were square couch cushions, and the shower was basically just a hose in a tub. In the morning, we could hear everything from above and around us. I’ve stayed at a best western plus before, and while it wasn’t fancy, at least it was clean and comfortable for a night. We arrived late after a long trip, tired and hoping for a relaxing sleep. Police were outside arresting a guy from one of the rooms when we first got there. I figured that could happen anywhere. But on the way to our room, the old, musty, dirty smell got stronger the farther into the hotel we went, and the carpets looked dirtier too. When we finally reached the room, I wasn’t impressed, though I thought it would at least be somewhere to sleep.

The beds let you feel every spring, and the pillows are about the size of decorative cushions. I had to go to the front desk four times because my key didn’t work, and they’d given me the wrong room. With so few staff around, getting help there is difficult. The kids and teenagers were often unsupervised and disrespectful, which may be part of what you deal with at a cheaper place. I’ve worked with pools for 24 years and am certified. The pool and hot tub leak, water runs constantly, and the chemicals still aren’t safe. If I reported this commercial pool, I think the place would be shut down. It’s not safe. Don’t let the low price or the pool tempt you. Do yourself a favor and pay a bit more to stay somewhere else. I’ll never come back.

The pool area was freezing, maybe 62 degrees, so we had to put on warmer clothes when we got out. Water was dripping on us from a leaking roof. We booked because the hotel said it had a bar and restaurant, but they were closed until the end of December. When we asked, management could have told us, but they said it was open. They lied. The place is poorly kept and outdated. The toilets were too short, and ours wouldn’t stop running. The door keys kept deactivating, and eventually we had to move to another room.
